DIKEMBE MUTOMBO'S 4 1/2 WEEKS TO SAVE THE WORLD
As we came upon the end of the Mayan Calendar and ultimately the Apocalypse, we knew we needed Old Spice to enlist the world’s greatest defender to save the planet. Featuring NBA star Dikembe Mutombo, 4 1/2 Weeks to Save the World! gave you the chance to travel through the internet completing challenges across 5 levels, somehow etching extra time into the ancient calendar based on your game performance to Prevent earth’s impending doom.
Each level of the retro style 16-bit game was written, animated and programmed weekly through a rapid prototyping and development process that allowed the game to be as real-time as possible, weaving actual news headlines into the character’s journey. The Queen of England, boxer Manny Pacquiao and the Gangam Style guy all cross Dikembe’s path (who is actually the voice of the game!) as he becomes the hero the world never knew it needed. And while the game was all web-based, we had to make a console version for the agency because why wouldn’t we.

When this thing began, I already figured I'd be doing all of the weeks in on swell swoop like this. If you want to actually try it out yourself... http://www.oldspicesavestheworld.com/
Looks like we made it! It was a long shot, but somehow, some way, we were able to avert the mega crisis of a lifetime and continue on existing - and win a Clio and a Webby in the process. Much of the credit goes to Dikembe Mutombo for his tireless work over the last 4 1/2 weeks of 2012.
